The cover illustration uses an image of a bust of Nagayo Mataro (1878-1941), the eminent professor of pathology at the University of Tokyo. The origical bust was damaged, and this one (which can be seen at Intermediatheque, close to Tokyo Station) is a reproduction. For more on the bust, see Akihito Suzuki's piece in this issue.
